8 Non-Alcoholic Beers to Try in 2023

Updated: Dec 23, 2022

Whether trying to cut back on drinking, test driving a “Dry January” or taking alcohol out of your diet altogether, non-alcoholic beers are a great alternative to the real thing. With New Year's resolutions and Dry January just around the corner, non-alcoholic beers are a hot commodity, and craft brands like Lagunitas already have widely available thirst-quenching products.

What is non-alcoholic beer?

More and more brands are stepping into the non-alcoholic beer industry. It has proved, as light beer did in the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s, to be a hot market in American markets as demand increases yearly. What exactly is non-alcoholic beer?

Non-alcoholic beer is a beer that contains less than 0.5% alcohol by volume. It’s brewed without alcohol conversion and does not produce the same effects as regular beer. You cannot get drunk from non-alcoholic beer, and the side effects are non-existent.

Here are 8 non-alcoholic beers to try in 2023:

  • Heineken 0.0

  • Brooklyn Special Effects

  • Labatt Blue Non-Alcoholic

  • Guinness 0

  • Lagunitas Hoppy Refresher

  • Athletic Brewing Run Wild

  • BrewDog Hazy AF

  • Stella Liberté

Heineken 0.0 has the same great taste as regular Heineken without alcohol. If you like international pale lagers like Heineken, Peroni Nastro Azzuro and Stella Artois, then this is a must-try for 2023.

Brooklyn is known for great craft beer in the New York City region. This hoppy amber ale has the same satisfying taste as a malty IPA without the alcohol content. It has notes of grapefruit and citrus with a pleasant hop aroma.

Labatt Blue Non-Alcoholic is a pilsner-style 0.5% ABV beer brewed to taste the same as Labatt but without the alcohol content. It tastes like a normal Labatt Blue with malt sweetness, a crisp body, and a refreshing taste.

Guinness 0 is one of the most recent introductions into the world of non-alcoholic beers. It has the same great taste as Guinness Draught, including the patented technology that nitrogenates the beer. Guinness 0 is brewed with the same ingredients as Guinness Draught but uses a cold filtration process to rid it of alcohol.

Lagunitas Hoppy Refresher is bubbly, crisp and–obviously–wildly refreshing. It’s meant to satisfy IPA fans and keep the alcohol at bay. This non-alcoholic beer is brewed with the famous “C” hops used in many popular IPAs: Citra, Cascade, Centennial and Chinook.

Athletic Brewing specializes in non-alcoholic brews. They’ve got it down to a science. This is a mild non-alcoholic IPA with citrus hop notes and a complex malt profile that lends to the beer’s complete flavor.

BrewDog Hazy Jane Alcohol-Free or “Hazy AF,” is a non-alcoholic hazy IPA with the same juicy complexity as the original Hazy Jane. It has tropical and grassy hop notes. The creamy mouthfeel complements the citrus hops notes. This beer is brewed with lactose.

Stella Artois Liberte is another international pale lager turned non-alcoholic. Make no mistake, this beer tastes just like the original Stella Artois with the same crisp berry and malt flavors. This beer contains zero alcohol with full flavor.
